Departures

This tour is operated by PERU BY LOCALS 100%. When you book your tour with us, you travel with us. We depart every day and year-round. The group size will depend on the number of travelers you have in your group.

DAY 1

The first day you will depart Cusco or Sacred Valley around noon to catch the Vistadome Train, which has big glass windows that will allow you to appreciate the journey at 3:37 pm from Ollantaytambo train station in the Sacred Valley. The train ride takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes to Aguas Calientes town, where you will spend the night. It is an interesting town to explore and shop. The journey by train is stunning – the views of snow-capped mountains, the Urubamba River, and some Inca sites.

Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, you will be taken to your booked hotel to spend the night. The town of Aguas Calientes is a very safe town with cars running around, and it has about 5,000 people.

DAY 2

Your guide will meet you at your hotel at 5:15 am for a 25-minute bus ride to Machu Picchu. Be prepared for a flood of emotions and serious goosebumps at your very first glimpse of this amazing ancient site of Machu Picchu.

Your guide will give you a detailed tour of the culture and history of Machu Picchu for a couple of hours. You will visit the main temple, the Temple of the Condor, the stone quarry and the solar observatory, terraces, etc.

After your complete Machu Picchu tour, you will take the bus down to the train station at Aguas Calientes to catch the scenic Vistadome train at 1:37 pm back to Ollantaytambo train station in the Sacred Valley, where our driver will meet you to transport you back to Cusco or your Sacred Valley hotel.
