Itinerary
SACRED VALLEY TOUR
Your guide will meet you at your Cusco hotel at 7:00 AM for a scenic one-hour drive to the Pisac archaeological complex. Explore the Temple of the Sun, ancient cemetery, terraces, water fountains and outstanding viewpoints over the Sacred Valley.
Next, travel to Ollantaytambo for a 1.5-hour guided visit to the Temple of Water, Temple of the Sun, the Inca baths and agricultural terraces. Wander the narrow streets of this living Inca town to admire its stone architecture and local life.
Enjoy lunch in Urubamba at NATIVE , one of the valley’s top restaurants, serving authentic Peruvian cuisine. After lunch, visit the extraordinary pre‑Hispanic salt pans of Maras — an extensive network of terraced salt evaporation pools — then continue to Moray to see the concentric Inca agricultural terraces used for ancient crop experimentation.
Our tour also inludes the vist of the Famous Salt mines of Maras.
On the return to Cusco, stop in Chinchero for a traditional weaving demonstration. Local artisans will show natural dyeing techniques using flowers, roots and seeds, demonstrate backstrap‑loom weaving with alpaca and llama wool, and offer a cup of muña (Andean mint) tea while explaining their craft.

What is the terrain like? How challenging is it?
The tour is rated as moderate since we will visit the mentioned places by walking.
How long before should I book this tour?
This tour does not require booking far in advance, but Peru by Locals still needs at least a week to organize everything so you can get the best guide and transport.
What is the weather like during the year?
The Cusco area has only two well-defined seasons: the wet season and the dry season. The wet season starts in November and ends in March. During this period, it rains almost every day for three or four hours, but there are also several sunny days. The dry season begins around March and lasts until October. June and July are the coldest months. Paradoxically, at noon the temperatures can reach 23°C (73°F), the annual highest temperature.
Should I tip the guide and driver? If I do, how much should I tip?
Our guides are paid fairly according to Peruvian labor laws – that is why we don’t require our clients to tip the crew. However, most of our clients want to show appreciation for the work our guides do and the service they receive. If you feel like giving appreciation or tipping them, feel free to do so at the end of their work. In that case, we recommend tipping 15% of the total cost.
Are there any limitations?
In this tour, there are no limitations regarding age, religion, different abilities, or sex. We are very happy to have you all.
