Authentic, Sustainable and Responsible Travel
As a Local travel Company we love the rich culture of Peru, respect the traditions and the way of life of local mountain people, and work hard to help conserve the country’s biodiversity.
We ensure each trip leaves a positive impact on the surrounding communities. Half a decade ago, Peru by Locals partnered with local communities to work together for a better life, better education, more opportunities and a better planet in our homeland.
“We are committed and dedicated to providing world-class trips in Peru”
Travel Responsibly
Since the beginning of our operations, we have seen tourism as a responsibility — not just to ourselves, but to the people and environment around us.
Our passion is fueled by the phenomenal people of our country, our extraordinary history, our unique culture, and our food. We are proud to be LOCALS and we are here to give back to our communities.
1.- Climate Action (Green Mountains)
We are a small company with a big heart, always working toward a better world. Since 2023, we have joined reforestation projects in the historical areas of Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail. Our PERU BY LOCALS team has planted 300 trees so far, prioritizing native species that will allow Machu Picchu environment to thrive. A few of those species include Qeuña trees (Polylepis spp), Tara trees (Caesalpinia spinosa)

We are Building a Better Planet
We have only one home, it’s called planet Earth and we are here to protect it.
Deforestation has been affecting the whole world and we want to be part of the solution. Our goal is to increase tree planting in protected areas, as well as working with local communities to keep reforesting their areas. We want to restore forests to help our wonderful world breathe again. This will help us all breathe easier and will bring more wildlife back as well.
Do you Want to Help us to Plant a Tree?
Come with us and leave a tree for life in this beautiful planet.
PERU BY LOCALS has created a program where you can participate in this project! We take you to the reforestation area so you can help us plant trees. This can be done in a day trip from Cusco or Sacred Valley, while you take a trip to Machu Picchu, add a day trip with us on this amazing experience as well as enjoy the beautiful scenery for the Andes mountains.

2.- Community Social Projects
Peru by Locals was established by an ex Inca trail porter and a current tour guide. Along the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, Jose Condor, born in a native village Huayllaccocha, near the Sacred Valley, where life was hard while growing up. He decided to start Peru by Locals inspired by the native-Quechua people to give back to the communities, Since Peru by Locals started the operations, we do social works supporting schools in mountain villages. We focus our projects on the education of children, providing them school supplies, hygiene supplies, books and other educational needs. We focus our projects in the village called Willoc located in the Sacred Valley – the school has children from kindergarten to elementary school, aged from 4 to 11 years.
When you book with us any trek or tour, you are a part of our projects because trusting in us is making it possible to keep creating better education for the ones that need it the most – without your help this would be impossible. Apart from providing you lifelong experiences, we use part of your money for giving back to the communities.
We are proud to be able to give back to the communities and help to improve the education of the natives because we believe they are the future of our country, and this is only possible because of all of our guests.

Community Social Projects
In our Projects we Include

Community Social Projects
Giving them courses about identity – when we help the children with education in the communities, we need to encourage them to keep practicing their traditions and keep speaking Quechua as their mother language, which was even spoken by their ancestors, the Incas encouraging them to learn English, because Cusco’s economy is based on tourism – we would like many of those kids to be part of our team one day, we would like to have them as tour guides when they grow up, because the best tour guides are LOCALS – they know how to transmit the history, their traditions with passion.
How can you Help?
When you book with us, you are already involving yourselves in Our Social Projects, since part of our income goes to buy supplies for these schools that need all the tools to learn, but we buy them also toothbrushes, warm fleeces and similar stuff.
We invite you to be a part of these projects – we also created little program basically to take you to the school to spend some time with the kids playing, teaching them your games or any skill you have to share with them – they will love it and be very grateful for everything they learn.

Do you want to come to Willoq and the school with us?
Our cultural immersion program is the best way to connect you with the locals of the Mountains, Their textile art is one of the oldest textile traditions of the World and it became one of the most developed during the time of the Incas due to the use of different materials and techniques (result of its hybrid culture gained from the conquests of others) ethnicities. The Incas were able to produce a variety of clothing and everyday items.
The Andean textiles are an open book of codes, symbols, and information, it was used in the Andes as a form of writing or language made-up of visual metaphors that convey cosmology and cultural patterns, the Women in Willoq are just amazing weavers and now they are able to show you all that in our.
In our immersion programs, you have also the chance to visit the local school and share some time with the kids, it is very recommended especially when you travel with your own kids to show them the education in the mountains because they will have the chance to interact with them learn from each other.

Clean up Campaigns
We participate in clean-up campaigns every year in the Inca trail and Machu Picchu área which is a delicate área for flora and fauna since there is always garbage left behind by other less conscious trekkers and travelers. We know that every member when traveller deserves to see the environment in pristine conditions.
